Pity my poor PSP.
Bought at launch, I was amazed at the graphics the handheld could display on it’s crisp TFT screen, driving through Libery City on the bus was unsurpassed and the promise of PS1 games that i could download and take with me on my many adventures filled me with glee.
I could put my MP3’s on to it, watch films, and upload my photo collection to it this was really the future of handheld gaming.
Then the bubble burst!
It’s been many months since the release of the psp and having a grand collection of 5 games and a solitary UMD film it has been consigned to that part of the cupboard that only spiders and dust accumulate.
Where did it all go wrong? Well the UMD’s were double the price of DVD’s with no extras, PS1 game’s have finally appeared but you have to spend £400 on a PS3 to access them and most games are ports of PS2 games you already spent £30 on and don’t want to spend another £30 on just so you can play it on the bus next to the guy who smells of gin and coughs phlegm everywhere.
You have to admire Sony though. they must of been laughing so hard when they came up with the idea of PS2 version 2.3 .
2.1: They build Playstation 2
2.2: They update it and made it smaller and call it PS2 (slimline)
(This is the clever bit. Watch how they make everyone buy the same thing twice.)
2.3: They update it, make it even smaller & add a screen to it. They then re-release all the ps2 games for this 2.3 update…..only they make a new format called UMD which isn’t compatible with any of the old updates and make everyone buy all the games a second time round.
Oh how i laughed……
now my sides hurt
Till next time
